LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Vegetable farmers and traders of Benguet are now again reaching out to their fellow Filipinos who are in dire need by donating their vegetable produce to the residents of Batangas province affected by the Taal Volcano eruption.
According to Agot Balanoy of the League of Associations in the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post, the members decided to donate more than 3,000 kilograms of assorted vegetables. She hopes that such can bring relief in any way to the people of Batangas, especially those who are most hit by the calamity.
This is not the first time that the league donated vegetables to areas ravaged by disasters. In December last year, the vegetable farmers and traders gave an early Christmas gift to their fellow Cordillerans in Apayao. Heavy rains brought by Typhoons “Quiel” and “Ramon” caused floods and landslides that devasted the province.”
Balanoy said that the vegetables are for delivery to Batangas on Sunday, January 18, 2020. She said that the Department of Agriculture (DA) Cordillera will lend its truck for the delivery. According to her, they will also utilize vans to bring some toiletries to the survivors.
Meanwhile, the folks of Sagada, together with their local government unit (LGU), just sent their second batch of donations of sayote and other vegetables to the people of Batangas. # nordis.net
