BAGUIO CITY — The Zero Waste cluster of the Baguio We Want group invites the public to an interactive forum entitled, “Understanding the City’s 10 –Year Solid Waste Management Plan (2015-2024)” on May 13 (Friday) from 2:00-5:00 PM, at the University of the Cordilleras Auditorium, 9th Flr. EDS Building.
The activity aims to create awareness on the 10-year Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) of Baguio City and know its implications in regard to managing our waste resources, our health and environment (air quality and water table and waterways), fiscal spending, and people’s livelihood along the waste stream. It will also be an opportunity for us to appraise the sustainability of the technologies such as the waste-to-energy and the sanitary landfill that are contained in the plan.
Resource speakers are Froilan Grate, chair of Mother Earth Foundation and member of the National Solid Waste Management Commission; Romeo Concio, head of the General Services Office of the City; Atty. John Ray Libiran, faculty member of the College of Law, University of the Cordilleras; Rafael Lopez of Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives; and Ms. Ayeth Enrile of Health Care Without Harm-Asia.
This forum is a joint effort of the Green Committee of the University of the Cordilleras, UP Baguio’s Green Committee, Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary (MES), and the Zero Waste cluster of the Baguio We Want. # nordis.net
