PNP, NPA clash in Sagada wounding two police officers


BAGUIO CITY — Two police officers were hurt in an encounter between forces of the Police Regional Office Cordillera and the New People’s Army (NPA) early morning today, August 29.

According to PROCor Regional Director General Benjamin Magalong operatives of the Deep Reconnaissance Teams of Abra and Benguet Provincial Police Offices encountered undetermined number of armed New People’s Army guerillas in Sitio Data, Brgy. Aguid, Sagada, Mountain Province at around 7:40 AM today.

Lt. Col. Richard Sibayan, commander of the 50th IB, Philippine Army based in Mountain Province said the firefight has stopped at around 10:00AM. He added the army is on standby waiting for police request for back up. #
