Letter of thanks

From the Officers and Members
of Lepanto Employees Union (LEU)

September 16, 2005

Dear friends:

“It is in the utmost form of fraternity to help your brethren not only by giving them food but also being with them in facing the challenges of time where human dignity is put to test…” (The book of intellects…)

The officers and members of the Lepanto Employees Union (LEU-NAFLU-KMU) would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the exemplary and unselfish assistance that YOU provided us during our 101 days of strike in Lepanto Mines at Mankayan, Benguet. Although words are not enough to acknowledge your immeasurable generosity, we wish to speak of our heart bound thanks to all your support to our cause.

The financial, material and moral help you gave us is of much help that it made us stronger in battling the hardships that the pain-stricken strike inflicted to us. But most of all, your bigheartedness made us realize that as long as the truth is on our side as our struggle for just wages and benefits is legitimate that we will not be left alone but will be able to seek refuge in the benevolence of people like you.

“In order to survive if not to be the victor in times of war, sacrifices are inevitable to be resorted upon for the good of all…” (The book of intellects…)

We stood determinedly in our strike for our fellow unionists expressed their fortitude in pursuing the strike. For more than three months, we hand in hand defended our picket lines and guarded our ranks. But sometimes the enemy grows smarter and trickier that walloped above our defense.

Our officers have to make a decision where the fate of many families depends. Our officers have also looked into preserving the union.

It is true that we lifted the picket lines and the strike is over, but our struggle remains so long as the exploitations and oppressions against our ranks linger. As we, together with the biggest number of oppressed people forward the fight towards a better society where the respect for everyone’s rights and welfare prevails.

Your countless assistance to our strike is never wasted as we treasure them for the rest of our lives. We shall keep them in continuing what we started until we achieve the best!

LONG LIVE THE STRUGGLE FOR THE RIGHTS AND WELFARE!
LONG LIVE THE WORKERS OF THE WORLD!
WORKERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!

Again, MARAMING SALAMAT at MABUHAY KAYO! #
