Total war against the left

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared yesterday the total out war against the left. Although she clarified that the war is against the Communist Party of the Philippines-led underground revolutionary organizations, she generalized it with all the left, including the legal left.

The declaration is not a go signal as its military had been identified to be the culprits on the political killings. It is dangerous as it will legally signal for covert political killings to be undertaken against any personality of the legal left.

While our people are living in poverty, GMA allotted P1 billion for this unnecessary war. Military might as proven by history of all nations showed that militarism is not the solution to poverty-based problems.

GMA only aims to continuously occupy the presidency despite her questionable legal mandate. This came after Senator Rodolfo Biazon released the findings of his Senate Committee that the 2004 elections was marred by massive fraud and the main beneficiary for the said fraud was GMA herself.

GMA only showed her thirst for political power but has no political will to solve the economic and political crises the nation faces. She should heed the people’s call to step down to give way for a rebuilding of this fragmented nation. #
