THE TRUTH GLARES UPON THE PEOPLE!

Even if our lawmakers are still conducting their inquiries on the controversies surrounding Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her family, protest actions have started to mount asking GMA to step down.

The truth glares upon the people!

The call for GMA’s resignation is not merely because of the Garcillano tapes and the jueteng scandal but is a cumulative effect of the current administration’s failure to address the problems confronting the people — high cost of living and the deteriorating purchasing power of the peso. As a matter of fact, the people are worst off because of the detrimental laws that GMA asked Congress to enact like the Expanded Value Added Tax. This is enough bases for the people to be livid.

It is unnerving for GMA to keep her silence regarding the Garcillano tapes and to keep on harping that the 2004 national elections is the cleanest in the history of the Philippines.

The Garcillano tapes also show the tendency of GMA to use the resources of the government, generated by the taxes of the people, just to ensure her continued stay in Malacañang. It is always a possibility that she will resort to violent means to quell the growing opposition as she did to the Estrada supporters in May 2001.

On the other hand, the people have had enough of a president who brought more misery to lives of millions and whose mandate is highly questionable. The only way for people to be satisfied is for GMA to step down.

Hopefully, GMA will realize that relinquishing her post is the only option left for her. #
