CPDF tells AFP to ‘stop lying’

March 31, 2007 in Cordillera, general, insurgency

BAGUIO CTIY (Mar. 30) — The Cordillera People’s Democratic Front (CPDF), in a statement sent to the media, called on the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to stop lying to the public.

CPDF Spokesperson Simon “Ka Filiw” Naogsan in a statement criticized Lt. General Bonifacio Ramos, commander of the Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) of the AFP for lying to the public about an alleged abandoned New People’s Army (NPA) camp at Mount Abikiyan in Aguid, Sagada, Mountain Province last March 9.

“They (AFP) can fool the people sometimes but they cannot do it all the time. Enough is enough,” Naogsan said.

Naogsan said there is no Mt. Abikiyan in Aguid. “There is however an Abikiyan creek. But a creek is a creek and not a mountain. Lt. Gen. Ramos and his pathetic psywar experts are simply displaying their ignorance of local geography.”

“In the course of their massive military operations, it is possible that they can stumble upon some NPA disposal pits and pick up any garbage there and boast these as trophies to the media. In fact, they can retrieve any discarded literacy notebooks for instance and claim these as voluminous subversive documents of high intelligence value, or proclaim electrical wires as explosive materials,” the CPDF statement read.

Naogsan also said there are no NPA camps in Aguid. He said Ramos could be referring to the makeshift shacks of kaingeros. He added that Ramos earlier lied about local residents of Danac west, Boliney, Abra protecting a military camp in the said area from an NPA attack.

NPA-Abra in an earlier statement said the army men deployed in Boliney, Abra are isolated from the people due to numerous human rights violations they have committed against the people that includes the murder of John Maximo of Baoayan, Boliney in 2006. # via NORDIS
