MANKAYAN, Benguet — Local residents face the threat of hunger as roads leading to this mining town continues to be impassable and only limited sacks of rice arrive from nearby Cervantes, Ilocos Sur.
Twenty seven bodies were retrieved in the boundary of Abatan, Buguias and Guinaoang, while four workers of this town were reported dead at Nayak and Taneg, all in Mankayan.
Some 17 families from the sinking area of Poblacion, were evacuated to safer grounds. In Pukitan, crack on the ground were observed from the airstrip down to where several homes are standing, posing further threat and danger.
Kilometers 18-19 is meanwhile impassable while Kms. 26 to 36, which is a three hours hike can only be reached by foot.
ATOK, Benguet — An undetermined number of injured people were reported in Pasdong here due to landslides.
BAKUN, Benguet — Two persons died in Dada and Lameo of this town and most of the vegetable gardens, the main source of livelihood here, have been flooded.
BOKOD, Benguet — a huge landslide blocked the Benguet-Vizcaya Road, disabling the entry of food supplies and closing access to assistance. Damage in houses includes two totally wrecked in Ambuklao, six houses and a clinic in Labey and five in Minac.
In the southern mining town of Itogon, Benguet, 57 families in Luneta evacuated to the Alejo Pacalso National High school evacuation center. Five people were reported dead and one missing. Around 14 houses were totally damaged in Dalicno and another 20 at the brink of collapse.
Dalupirip is isolated and is facing threat of scarce food supply. Six died in Ucab while one is missing in Gumatdang.# nordis.net
