We gather today on moral duty to banish Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her lavish lifestyle out of Baguio. Enough is enough for Arroyo’s nine-year term during which our conditions have turned from worse to worst.

The plights of our parents have not improved while Malacañang boastfully justifies the extravagant spending of one million pesos for a single dinner.

For the nth time, Arroyo proves how anti-poor and anti people she really is. She does not care if two out of 10 Filipinos experience hunger. She ignores the reality that only one in every 10 Filipino youth can finish tertiary level due to poverty. She only cares about herself and her perpetration in power by unleashing all means, including the Oplan Bantay Laya of the armed forces which continue to hunt down activists critical to her.

Today, as GMA tours around the city, the local government shows effort to impress her by spreading “thank you” tarpaulins for various projects which never materialized. It is even more insulting to use “Mamamayan ng Cordillera” and “Baguio City Urban Poor” as signatories to these projects when they did not feel any of these. The exposed tarpaulin printing for her Baguio visit reveals more lies and uncalled-for spending in the name of the poor people of Baguio.

These acts are not worth our patience. It’s time for Arroyo to step down and to let the people vote new leaders for 2010. Reject this corrupt and deceitful regime! # nordis.net
