BAGUIO CITY — A female teenager was found dead on July 25 by local officials and community rescuers below the baseball ground of the Saint Mary’s School (SMS) in Sagada, Mountain Province.

Sources from the rescuers said that the unidentified victim is a female, at least 19 years old believed to be from the nearby town of Mainit.

Local police officials are investigating the scene of the crime and immediate area to find leads to the cause of the death and identity of the victim.

The victim was found at 7:30 A.M. naked from the waist down, sources claimed. Police are looking into the possibility that she was raped before being killed.

The body was brought to the St. Mary’s the Virgin Church, some 50 meters or more from the crime area.

Sources said that on Friday (July 24), students of SMS had a party. The victim is possibly an SMS student.

Nordis tried to get in touch with the school adminstrators but did not succeed up to press time.

As of press time, an autopsy on the victim is reportedly being conducted by a medical doctor of St. Theodore’s Hospital, also located in the same vicinity of SMS and the said church.

Rescuers claimed that this is the first incident where a female teenager died in an open area. Sagada villagers are well known for their warm hospitallity whether to tourists or the locals. # nordis.net
