NCIP grants CALTs to 2 La Trinidad Ibaloi clans
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Two Certificate on Ancestral Land Titles (CALT) were issued by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) last week to two clans in La Trinidad, Benguet.
NCIP-CAR Director Amador Batay-an said NCIP approved two CALTs for the Wayyas and Chacchacan clans. The two clans belong to the Ibaloi tribe of this province.
The Wayyas CALT is 11 hectares while the Chacchacan is two hectares, Batay-an said in a phone interview.
He added the Certificate for Ancestral Domain Title (CADT) for this town was issued November last year.
The land area for the La Trinidad CADTtotals to 7,470 hectares.
“The La Trinidad CADT has been approved and is now with the Land Registration Authority (LRA) for certification prior to registration,” Batay-an explained.
The issuance of CALT and CADT is based on the 1997 Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) and its implementing rules and regulations (IRR). # Arthur L. Allad-iw
