Ganza parking area turns to an immediate response center

2 MIN READ

BAGUIO CITY — Despite the pending case of the Jadewell Parking Systems Corporation in the Ganza parking area, city personnels cleared the area Thursday morning, intending to be converted into an immediate response center.

Armed with bolt-cutters, sledge hammers, heavy equipment, and brooms, the combined forces of the Public Order and Safety Division (POSD), City Environment Management Office (CEMO), City Parks Management Office (CPMO), trooped to the area at 10:00A.M. to clean up and rehabilitate the area, left idle for years since the Jadewell-City Government wars erupted 2004.

According to city Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr during the weekly Ugnayang Panglunsod Thursday, the city intends to convert the said area into an immediate response control center putting facilities for the fire prevention teams, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and medical emergency units.

The city’s executive head said this move is part of the city’s beautification program intended for the upcoming festivals including the Chinese Spring Festival at the end of the month, Flower Festival, the centennial celebration and other activities in the city for this year like the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CRAA) in February and the Ad Congress in November.

The city at one time has considered to maintain the area as a pay parking area or to convert it into a commercial center for vending purposes or for trade fairs.

“I decided to use it as a government area so there would never be an issue on vending and parking. I would like to guarantee the public that it is only to be used for that purpose and I hope people would not inject any other story into the action we are taking at the moment,” said Bautista.

Meanwhile, the city government is also geared towards developing other idle portions of the central business district like parts of Session Road, Maharlika Commercial Center and the public market, asking property owners to have their own immediate repairs and beautification efforts. # Cye Reyes with reports by Aileen P.
