BAGUIO CITY (Dec. 27) — Abra Representative Cecille S. Luna denied insinuations that the Christmas Day blast in her house in Bangued was “self-inflicted” and came from a large haul of firecrackers she was keeping.

Luna explained that the extent of damage that ripped her car and a number of rooms in her house, and shattered its glass panes and doors was the handiwork of a huge explosive device.

Luna’s sons, Lagayan Mayor Jentrix, Brgy. Chairman Ryan and Cromwell, and four other wards were injured during the 7:00 PM blast last December 25.

Abra police earlier theorized that the blast may have been caused either by an accident from firecrackers or political rivalry in the province.

Ryan, Rep. Luna said, is due to be surgically operated on Friday at the Philippine General Hospital for injuries in the face, head and body, while policeman Nathaniel Bermudez will soon undergo surgery also injuries.

Lagayan Mayor Jentrix, the Abra lady solon added, was seriously injured sustaining burns in his head, eyelids, shoulders, knees and other parts of his body. # Ace Alegre for NORDIS
