Candidate for Baguio vice-mayor withdraws

BAGUIO CITY — According to Encarnacion Dalilis, Comission on Election Cordillera Administrative Region (Comelec-CAR) Election Assistant, one candidate for vice mayor and 2 aspiring councilors officially withdrew their Certificate of Candidacy (CoC) on the final date of substitution and withdrawals of CoC.

Dalilis said that Van Oliver Magarde Dicang of the National Peoples Coalition (NPC) officially withdrew his candidacy for vice-mayor of Baguio after the deadline for substituion of candidates last December 21. The slot vacated by Dicang will no longer be substituted

Dalilis clarified that candidates can still withdraw but substituion will not be allowed.

For the Baguio councilors, Evelyn Pit-og Balisong and Micheal Ku Uy, both independent candidates, withdrew during the scheduled last day of filing for substitution while Agaton Ronald Guirnalda Yaranon was substituted by his mother Lilia Yaranon.

Meanwhile, unopposed bet for vice mayor in the municipality of Danglas in Abra was officially substituted by his partymate Andres Brilliantes Bernus. Both are under the Liberal Party (LP).

Attorney Julius Torres, Acting Regional Election Director of Comelec-CAR said that after the deadline last December 21 a final list of all the candidates for the election can now be put on the official ballot. He added that substitution of candidates after the deadline of entries will still be accommodated but their names will not be visible on the ballot but the votes from the substituted candidate will be automatically counted in favor of the one who replaced the candidate. # nordis.net
