Mayor extends early curfew for minors

BAGUIO CITY (Aug. 24) — Mayor Reinaldo A. Bautista Jr. last week issued Executive Order No. 4 prolonging the implementation of the 30-day experiment on the imposition of curfew for minors in the city from 7:00 P.M. To 5:00 A.M. The experiment began last July 23 and was scheduled to end last August 22.

A proposed amendatory ordinance, authored by Councilor Nicasio Aliping Jr. to amend Ordinance No. 71 series of 1991 to accommodate the expanded curfew time has just been passed on first reading at the city council. Transport group to regulate PUV trips

BAGUIO CITY (Aug. 24) — Mayor Reinaldo A. Bautista Jr. said Thursday the Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Associations in the Philippines (Fejodap)-Baguio chapter already submitted a rationalization schedule that aim to decrease the number of jeepney staging areas. The proposed schedule is currently being evaluated for recommendation.

At present, there are a total of 108 jeepney associations and 4,347 jeepney units utilizing the various staging areas with 322 loading allocations and 1,831 staging allocations. # Aileen P. Refuerzo/PIO

Baguio cited for surpassing tax collection target

BAGUIO CITY (Aug. 24) — The Bureau of Local Government Finance cited the city government for surpassing the 60 percent tax collection quota set for the city for the first semester of the year.

Mayor Reinaldo A. Bautista Jr. said the city posted an 88 percent collection in real property tax collection, 65.8 percent in business tax and 72.6 percent in the collection of other fees. The city however scored low in the collection of revenues for economic enterprise or government projects where it chalked up a poor 39.5 percent. # Aileen P. Refuerzo/PIO

Council decides on Balisong case – Baguio Mayor

BAGUIO CITY (Aug. 24) — Mayor Reinaldo A. Bautista Jr. Thursday said it is up to the city council to initiate the imposition of appropriate sanctions against Councilor Rocky Thomas Balisong for issuing traffic directives that were not authorized by the city council.

The mayor however assured that he is ready to undertake appropriate action on the matter from the end of the executive branch as long as this is within the bounds of executive powers. # Aileen P. Refuerzo/PIO

Amended EO for regulation of liquor sale issued

BAGUIO CITY (Aug. 24) — Mayor Reinaldo A. Bautista, Jr. amended Executive Order (EO) 2 through the issuance of EO 3, last week intensifying the regulation of sale and consumption of liquor.

Instead of the earlier 6:00 P.M. to 12:00 Midnight liquor ban, all business establishments engaged in the selling and dispensing intoxicating beverages are only allowed to sell liquor from 6:00 P.M. to 1:00 A.M.from Monday to Friday and 6:00 P.M. to 3:00 A.M. on Saturdays and Sundays. # Julie G.
