DENR says no more logging in Isabela

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (Aug. 23)— Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Isabela Provincial Officer Felix Taguba said there are no illegal loggers in the province, but did not deny there are timber poachers preying within the Sierra Madre Biodiversity Corridor (SMBC).

Taguba said timber poachers from the provinces of Quezon and Aurora usually prey on narra trees within the protected area.

The SMBC, Taguba said is the 2nd largest forest reserve in the country with 369,000 hectares of forests, marine and mangrove resources. # PIA/Nueva Vizcaya

Cagayan Valley DENR embarks on massive tree planting

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (Aug. 22) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the region is set to plant some 1.25 million trees to replenish and improve the conditions of forests and watersheds of Cagayan Valley.

Regional Executive Director Clarence Baguilat said the massive planting is part of the Green Philippines Program(GPP) set to plant some 20 million trees. # PIA/Nueva Vizcaya
