2 buses robbed in Ifugao, 1 passenger killed

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (June 17) — Armed robbers had a heyday on Saturday when they held up two buses in Tinoc, Ifugao and killed a lady passenger.

Cordillera police spokesman Supt. Joseph Adnol said five unidentified armed men robbed passengers of a Ron-ron bus and a Blooming Mills bus bound for Lagawe-Ifugao at around 2:20 on Saturday afternoon in sitio Luhab, Tinoc.

The robbers, Adnol claimed, were all wearing bonnets and four of them were armed with pistols and one with a 12 gauge shotgun. He said the suspects carted away personal belongings of the passengers including cash.

Adnol said during the heist, Mary Pay-an Mangibin, 45, fought it out with the robbers but one of the robbery gang men shot her. She was rushed to the Lutheran Hospital in Buguias town, Benguet but was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians.

Adnol could not yet ascertain how much cash was carted away by the robbery gang men. He added the buses came from Baguio City via the Halsema Highway (Baguio-Bontoc Road). # Ace Alegre for NORDIS
