TUGUEGARAO CITY (May 25) — The National Democratic Front-Cagayan Valley (NDF-CV) urges all Cagayanos to frustrate and expose the alleged P200-million plot to install Benjamin Dy as governor of Isabela.

Salvador Del Pueblo of NDF-CV said in a statement that the delayed proclamation of Grace Padaca is a plot to deliberately rig the results of Isabela polls in favor of Dy. He said a deluge of legal maneuvers have been launched to buy time and frustrate Padaca’s proclamation.

“We have sources inside the Commission on Elections (Comelec) that indeed, a plot to install Dy as Isabela governor has been ordered by no less than Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (GMA) herself. To ensure its implementation, Abalos had been paid P200 million. Abalos currently oversees Northern Luzon in this year’s electoral exercise. GMA promised the Dys that the latter shall regain control of the Isabela Capitol by all means, in exchange for the latter’s (dynasty’s) loyalty,” Del Pueblo’s statement read.

Del Pueblo also mentioned that the said plot is no surprise because “under Abalos’s tutelage, the Comelec became the most corrupt institution next only to GMA”. He cited how Comelec reduced people’s money to nothing in the poll computerization scam due to bidding irregularity.

“Bogus elections in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) region have become normal as they have been tolerated, institutionalized and made official. ‘Hello Garci’ scam has yet to be resolved. Party lists, temporary restraining order (TRO) and/or election returns (ERs) are for sale. Massive vote-buying, shaving, tampering remain unchecked, among other corrupt and fraudulent practices. Comelec has become a huge business enterprise,” the statement further read.

Del Pueblo also warned the Dys for their outstanding blood debts and pending cases against the people and the revolutionary movement. “The Dys have been charged in revolutionary courts for the murders of Jake Soriano and Mayor Delfinito Albano of Ilagan,” the statement added.

“This P200 – million plot to install Dy is yet another clear manifestation of the rottenness of the reactionary electoral system which remains decadent, elitist, and highly undemocratic. Certainly, such an electoral system could not possibly fully resolve the people’s lingering basic problems – imperialist control, landlessness and bureaucrat capitalism. People’s democratic revolution is,” Del Pueblo’s statement ended.

Padaca, according to the NDF-CV, is the icon of new politics in the province. # via NORDIS
