MORE THAN THE SHOW. The Dancing Fountain in Vigan City’s Plaza Salcedo attracts thousands of spectators everyday both tourists and locals wanting to see the cityscape at nightfall, and the grandiose display of lights and spouting water. However, tourism authorities must exert more effort to inform the viewers of the historical significance of the plaza. The site is where the Spanish colonizers executed Gabriela Silang, the first female resistance leader against Spain, on September 20, 1763. Photo by Sherwin De Vera.
