Diaries From The Field: The wonders of acupuncture

Lately, I started sit-up exercises to reduce my abdominal fat. But instead of achieving a desirable outcome, I ended up injuring my lower back. For some weeks, I cannot bend, sit for a long time, and move freely because of my back ache. I cannot even ride a jeep because I cannot bend nor sit without support. Because of this, I tried to avail the services of a mangngilot to relieve my back aches somehow, however, I cannot continue with the schedule because of my busy calendar.

Then my friend Hildrine recommended acupuncture and moxibustion services of the Community Health Education Services Training in the Cordillera Region (CHESTCORE) for my back pains and general health. Without any options, I availed of the services of CHESTCORE. The results are amazing more than the effects on me of commercial medicines.

During my first sessions, once the needles were pricked into the so-called acupuncture points, I immediately felt that my eyes become heavy and as if my body systems loosened and imbibed into a different state. This was the best part I always liked during the whole process of acupuncture and moxibustion is when my mind and body are relaxed. Even a biting mosquito cannot cause any hint of irritation.

With the progress of my sessions with acupuncture and moxibustion, I can already feel the significant effects on my general health. My back pains slowly faded, my muscles relaxed, no more disrupted sleep and relatively a good and light feeling.

My advice to those who want to try acupuncture and moxibustion is the need to allot time for your sessions to achieve the most desirable outcome. Unlike western medicine that you can take in a few seconds, acupuncture and moxibustion needs more time and effort. But as I said, it is worth trying.

Acupuncture and moxibustion are some forms of alternative medicine. As an alternative medicine, it is more holistic approach to healing, it is more affordable and easier to learn as compared to the expensive western medicines. At this time that the government is privatizing public hospitals and decreasing the budget for public health, alternative medicine is one option for the people to stay healthy and maintain a wholesome well being.

For those who are interested to try and learn acupuncture, you can contact CHESTCORE thru their facebook page. # nordis.net
